Makar Sankranti / Maghe Sankranti Festival 2020

Makar Sankranti festival is celebrated annually on 14 Jan.  It is among the most propitious occasions celebrated bringing positive luck whatsoever.  The festival is celebrated in names, a variety of traditions are witnessed with this festival in various states.  The Sun transits out of Sagittarius is known as Makar Sankranti.  This journey of Sun traveling northwards (from Dakshinayana into Uttarayana) is very sacred and auspicious.

Makar Sankranti is also called"Khichadi" (named on a dish made of rice and lentils).  This dish i.e. khichadi provides relief from many'Graha doshas' if eaten on Makar Sankranti.
